windowserver crash sierra
The window server keeps crashing abruptly and logs me off since updating to 10.12 on my macbook pro. Any solution?
Here are the logs:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), macOS Sierra (10.12)

I had this problem too and by disabling the Automatic graphics switching in Energy Saver settings I had no more crashes in the 3rd day of operation. I am on a macbook pro mid 2012 with retina display and
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB GPUs
I my self having same problem either Video Playback in Safari HTML5 is causing issue or Plex I'm not sure
but this is happening on my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
Yup, I also noticed: it only crashes when I'm watching youtube. So, looks like video playback is having issues. I'll further test if offline videos cause this too.
you using safari when this happens? will be testing via other browsers like chrome and Firefox..
because this has only happened when I have been using Safari 10.
No, I was using Chrome. It happens on both youtube and facebook, so appears to be a generic issue related to GPU.
Same problem. Nearly a daily occurrence.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
I'm having the same problem with my mid-2010 iMac. It occurs if I plug in my external Dell monitor.
Same here. Using an iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013). MacOS Sierra 10.12
Whenever I downsize a fullscreen video it "crashes" to the login screen. Safari or Opera.
I have exactly the same problem and identical crash report. Happens daily reading articles on MSN using Safari.
any issues on 10.12.1 anyone? fixed?
Just installed it tonight. Fingers crossed.
Haven't seen it on 10.12.1 till now. Hopefully it has been fixed. đ
Updated too. Safari works OK now, but Opera still crashes to login screen when minimizing a full size video.
Also discovered that using "esc" key to quit the full size visualizer in iTunes crashes to login screen too.
I believe this issue is not visible on every machine. Many of those with exactly same specs as my macbook pro have had no issues whatsoever on 10.12. Issue on my machine has also fixed after the update. Some people are still stuck with it though. đ
Seeing this message in the WindowServer crash report:
abort() called
IOSurface creation failed with size [2268 x 2826]. If size looks sane, this is likely due to IOSurface leak and system IOSurface limit reached.
This is an iMac 5K 27" late 2014. A moment ago also in 10.12.1. So irritating. In 10.12.0 it used to appear so that Safari started behaving oddly (things start missing from web pages), and after some tens of seconds WindowServer crashes and I am thrown to the login screen. This time I was in Mail and it started behaving oddly (parts of messages missing), and then the WindowServer crash.
